Arteries have a great deal as it has more smooth muscles in their walls as compared to veins the wall is thick.

The blood in the arteries flows with effect of pressure and the thick walls helps in blood flow. The arteries need to constrict and relax which allows the movement of blood from heart to various parts of the body.

In veins there are no smooth muscle cells because there is no requirement of pressure when the blood moves from the various parts of the body to heart.
