Answer:the price of one adult ticket is $7

the price of one child ticket is $4.5

Explanation:

Let x represent the price of one adult ticket.

Let y represent the price of one child ticket.

The Johnson family bought 4 adult tickets and 2 child tickets for a total of $37. This means that

4x + 2y = 37 - - - - - - - - -1

The Gonzalez family bought 3 adult tickets and 4 child tickets for a total of $39. This means that

3x + 4y = 39 - - - - - - - - - - 2

Multiplying equation 1 by 3 and equation 2 by 4, it becomes.

12x + 6y = 111

12x + 16y = 156

Subtracting, it becomes

- 10y = - 45

y = - 45/-10

y = $4.5

Substituting y = 4.5 into equation 1, it becomes

4x + 2 Ă— 4.5 = 37

4x + 9 = 37

4x = 37 - 9 = 28

x = 28/4 = 7
