Answer:

Carla paid an amount of 30 for 3 items.

Explanation:

Given:- Carla bought,

3 packages of hamburger at price of 7.95 per package.

1/4 pound of tomatoes at price of 2.96 per package.

1 package of cheese at price of 4.25

Received amount = 1.16

To find:- Paid amount=?

Solution:-

Carla bought 3 packages of hamburger at price of 7.95 per package,

So, cost of 3 packages will be

Cost of 3 packages of hamburger =
3* 7.95

Cost of 3 packages of hamburger = 23.85 ---------------(1)

Carla bought 1/4 pound of tomatoes at price of 2.96 per package,

So, cost of 1/4 pound of tomato is,

Cost of 1/4 tomato =
(1)/(4) * 2.96

Cost of 1/4 tomato = 0.74 ---------------(2)

Carla bought 1 package of cheese at price of 4.25,

Cost of 1 package of cheese = 4.25 ---------------(3)

Now,

Total price of 3 items = 23.85+0.74+4.25 ------------(from 1,2,3)

Total price of 3 items = 28.84 -------------------(4)

Now,

Paid amount = Total price of 3 items + Received amount

Paid amount = 28.84+1.16 --------(from 4 and given)

Paid amount = 30

Therefore Carla paid an amount of 30 for 3 items.
