x = 2 , y = 8

Explanation:

we are given x+2y=14 and -x+3y=26

Solving by using the Equal Values Method,

x + 2y = 14 => x = 14-2y

-x + 3y =26 => x = 3y -26

equating the above two we get,

3y-26 = 14 - 2y

3y + 2y - 14 +26

5y = 40

y = 8

substituting value of y in any equation we get x = -2

Hence the answer.
