When a slide with a format is created, an object from another slide can be copied to it by selecting the object and pressing control -c in the keyboard or right clicking and selecting copy object. The placeholder on the new slide is selected and control-v is pressed or right click and paste object from clipboard is used.

The same procedure can be used to copy text too.
