Gel electrophoresis uses Current to separate DNA fragments.
Step-by-step explanation:
A technique that helps in the separation of DNA fragments on the basis of their corresponding size and charge is Gel electrophoresis. It is done by passing a current through a gel that contains the molecules to be divided. The molecules will be then travelling through the gel in various directions with various speeds, there by helping them to be isolated from each another which mainly depends upon their charge and size.
All DNA molecules will be having identical amount of charge per mass and this is the reason why gel electrophoresis of DNA fragments separates them only based on their size. Determination of How many different DNA fragments are present in a sample and identification of how large they are relatively with each other can be done using this method .
