Explanation:

A vertically symmetrical word is made up entirely of vertically symmetrical letters. These are the ones which if you draw a line through the word on the vertical axis, both sides look similar.

If you draw a vertical line through O or T, both halves of the letters look the same. The vertically symmetrical (capital) letters are A, H, I, M, O, T, W, X and Y. All other letters have right and left sides of the letter different from each other.

Therefore TOOT is a perfect example.
