Answer:

Equation in standard form to model the linear situation is :

1750x + y = 16000

Explanation:

Volume of water in container = 16,000 gal

Volume of water in container after 2 hours = 12,500 gal

Consider time when container was filled with 16,000 gallons of water be 0 hour.

T(Hour) Volume of water left

0 16,000 gal

2 12,500 gal

(x_1,y_1)=(0, 16000)

(x_2,y_2)=(2, 12500)

Now , we have two coordinates , from which we can easily determine the equation of this situation:

(y-y_1)=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)* (x-x_1)

(y-16000)=(12500-16000)/(2-0)* (x-0)

y-16000=(-1750)* (x)

y-16000=-1750x

Equation in standard form to model the linear situation is : (Ax+By=C)

1750x+y=16000
