Propaganda is any type of writing that is written with the intention of persuading people to support a cause. It is aimed at trying to influence an audience instead of giving out fair information. In fact, propaganda sometimes only presents some of the facts. Or it may be written in a way that produces an emotional reaction. This is one way of keeping people from thinking sensibly.

People or groups who use propaganda want to persuade others to agree with them. However, it is not always negative. Think about signs that try to encourage people to vote or report crimes to police. These are also considered propaganda.

Which of the following statements best describes the organizational structure used in this passage?

A. The author explains how most news stories are propaganda.
B. The author compares propaganda to other forms of writing.
C. The author defines the meaning of the word propaganda.
D. The author gives theories on propaganda's lasting effects.

Answer:

C). The author defines the meaning of the word propaganda.

Step-by-step explanation:

The authors employ organizational structure to arrange the various elements of an essay or work along with its sub-ideas in a specific manner(sequential, problem-solution, cause-effect, etc.) in order to enhance its clarity and comprehension for the readers.

As per the question, option C i.e. 'the author defines the meaning of the word propaganda' most appropriately demonstrates that how the organizational structure has been employed in the given passage as the entire essay primarily aims to describe what does the word propaganda mean and its purpose.

The author describes that 'propaganda is anything....cause' which 'aims to influence the audience emotionally to turn their decision favorably and not offering them factual information'. The author also asserts that 'it helps in preventing people from thinking sensibly' however, he also says that 'it is not negative always'. Therefore, the entire passage organizes the meaning of 'propaganda' and different dimensions of its use/purpose. Thus, option C is the correct answer.
