Answer:

The scientific method of research has various steps which are followed to get an answer to a question or to formulate laws and theories.

The scientific method of research begins with a scientific question. For example, Does sunlight increases the rate of growth in plants?

To answer the scientific question, a hypothesis is made. A hypothesis is a tentative statement that can be proved right or wrong. For the question I took as an example, the following hypothesis can be made " If a plant is kept in sunlight, it will grow more than the plant which is not kept in sunlight."

In order to test the hypothesis, experiments are done and observations are made. The experiment for my chosen example will be to place some plants in sunlight and vary the amount of sunlight for them. Place another plant in dark light. Rest all the conditions should be the same for the plants.

Based on the experiments, results are generated and conclusions are drawn. For my example, the conclusion can be drawn that plant which receives more sunlight was observed to have more growth. Hence, the hypothesis is correct.

If a hypothesis gives the same results again and again, it becomes a law.
