15 = x^2 -2x

x^2 -2x - 15 = 0

Solving by factorization

x^2 - 5x + 3x - 15 = 0

(x^2 -5x) + (3x -15) = 0

x(x - 5) + 3(x - 5) = 0

(x + 3)(x - 5) = 0

(x + 3) = 0 or (x - 5) = 0

x = -3 or 5

Since x can't be negative therefore x is 5cm

Length = 5cm

Width = 5-2 = 3cm
