Following are the arguments made in favour and against the reservation for OBC:
Arguments in favour:
Reservation would help the citizens from OBC to
overcome their backwardness
of ages.
It would grant them
easy access to facilities and amenities
that they have been deprived of since a long time.
Reservation would help people from OBC to have
equitable opportunities
In the disciplines of education and employment.
Arguments against:
Reservation to OBC would make
merit stand second
in the order of preference.
It would bring an
imbalance of skill and talent
in all the fields of employment.
Granting reservation to a certain class would be
injustice to other classes
.
