A modest proposal was an essay Jonathan Swift wrote to convince the crown to change and help Irelands society. Because poverty had made them very difficult to raise their children and provide them with a good quality of life instead of making them suffer from poverty. Now, the reasons behind it were that in the first place the English crown was incredibly corrupt and they charged high taxes to their colonies/territories outside England. Also, it was a petition for a new for a government that would allow the Irish to create an interdependent system to not rely only on England's decisions.
