Weight in Robbie backpack is
(27)/(6) pounds or 4.5 pounds

Solution:

Given that Today Robbie is carrying his history textbook and his lunch in his backpack.

To find: weight in Robbie's backpack

From given,

Weight of history book =
2(5)/(6) pounds

Weight of lunch =
1(2)/(3) pounds

weight in Robbie's backpack = Weight of history book + Weight of lunch

\rightarrow 2(5)/(6) + 1(2)/(3)

Convert the mixed fractions

\rightarrow (6 * 2 + 5)/(6) + (3 * 1 + 2)/(3)\\\\\rightarrow (17)/(6) + (5)/(3)\\\\\rightarrow (17+10)/(6)\\\\\rightarrow (27)/(6)

Thus weight in Robbie backpack is
(27)/(6) pounds or 4.5 pounds
