Solving Way #1:

This way uses the "tip" they give us of finding the relation between the first two values and then applying it to the second x.

(y)/(x)

(16)/(8)

y = kx

y = (2)(16)

y = 32

Solving Way #2:

Since they vary directly which each other, we can set up a proportion to solve. I have y values on the top and x values on the bottom.


(16)/(8) =(y)/(16)

256 = 8y

32 = y

y = 32

Either way, when x is 16 y is 32.
