Answer:

The theme of sacrifice and unselfish love is depicted in O. Henry’s short story “The Gift of the Magi.”

Step-by-step explanation:

“The Gift of the Magi” by "O. Henry" is a story about a young married couple Jim and Della who live a in a small house and sacrifice their treasured possessions to gift each other on Christmas. Jim has this beautiful gold watch and Della has long hair. It is a story of self-giving love. Irony is a "literary technique" used in a story which means that the actual outcome is different from what is expected to be the result. Jim buys a comb for Della (but she sacrifices her hair) and Della buys chain for Jim's watch, which he sells. This is the irony in the story. But both of them get a gift which shows how much they love each other.
