Answer:

When x increases by 1, y increases by 3/2 = 1.5

Explanation:

If x and y are proporttional then

(y)/(x)=costant\to(y)/(x)=a\to y=ax

From the table we have x = 2 and y = 3.

Substitute:

3=2a divide both sides by 2

(3)/(2)=(2a)/(2)\\\\(3)/(2)=a\to a=(3)/(2)

Therefore we have:

y=(3)/(2)x

We increase x by 1:

y_1=(3)/(2)(x+1) use the distributive property

y_1=\underbrace{(3)/(2)x}_(y)+(3)/(2)\Rightarrow y_1=y+(3)/(2)
