5x - 40 = 2x - 10 ( subtract 2x from both sides )

3x - 40 = - 10 ( add 40 to both sides )

3x = 30 ( divide both sides by 3 )

x = 10

5(x-8) = 2(x-5)

5x-40 = 2x-10
