D would be a reflection across the x axis, since we are taking the y value and making it negative. (x, f(x)) → (x, -f(x)) .

E.g.

(3, 8) → (3, -8)

C on the other hand, keeps the y value the same, and instead makes the x value negative. (x, f(x)) → (-x, f(x)) .

E.g.

(3, 8) → (-3, 8)

This results in a reflection across the y-axis.
