The area of each circle is exactly 2.25 pi square inches.

(As the area of a circle is: Area = pi x radius^2).
Therefore the area is: 1.5^2 x pi
Area: 2.25pi


There are TWO identical circles in the cylinder.

(Think of a cylinder and recall that a cylinder has a circle on the top and bottom of the 3-D shape, therefore a cylinder has two identical circles)


So the total area of all the circles is 4.5pi square inches.

(Adding the area of the two identical circles together, where 2.25pi + 2.25pi = 4.5pi)
