Answer: 1979 students.

Explanation:

We are told that 3/4 (75% or 0.75) of total students voted, which amounted to 1484 votes.

Letting X be the total number of students, we can write that as:

(0.75)X = 1484

X = 1978.67 total students

Now I know one classmate who wasn't all there, but I suspect even he isn't counted as 0.67 of a student. So round to the nearest whole number, 1979 students.
