(AB)/(DC) =
(EA)/(ED) , substitute values


(10)/(4) =
(2x+10)/(x+3) ( cross- multiply )

10(x + 3) = 4(2x + 10 ) ← distribute parenthesis on both sides

10x + 30 = 8x + 40 ( subtract 8x from both sides )

2x + 30 = 40 ( subtract 30 from both sides )

2x = 10 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = 5
