A truck can be rented from Company A for $110 a day plus $0.20 per mile. Company B charges $80 a day plus $0.50 per mile to rent the same truck. Find the number of miles in a day at which the rental costs for Company A and Company B are the same.

Answer:

130

Explanation:

Step 1: write equations:

Company A: y = 0.20x + 110

Company B: y = 0.50x + 80

Step 2: graph your lines

Step 3: Find your intersect point

Step 4: find the points: (100,130)

The number of miles is y, so at 130 miles, both trucks are the same cost

Hope that helps
