Write the equation of the line that is parallel to the line y=−14x−3 through the point (4,4).

Parallel lines have the same slope, so if one line has a slope of -14, then the line parallel to it has a slope of -14 as well.

We are also given a point that the line passes through.

That's enough information to find the equation of the line.

First, we write the equation in point-slope form, which looks like so:

y-y1=m(x-x1)

y1 is the y-coordinate of the point, m is the slope of the line and x1 is the x-coordinate of the point.

y-4=-14(x-4)

y-4=-14x+56

y=-14x+60
