k = -9.
Step-by-step explanation:
Distribute the first part — 12 - 3k
Distribute the second part — 3 - 3k - k
Add 3k to both sides
12 = 3 - k
Add k to both sides (k + 12 = 3)
Subtract 12 from both sides
k = -9
