Apple pie is my favorite. I bake a lot of it, last year I got a little carried away and had 7 1/4 pies left over. I cut the pie into pieces to freeze and save for later. Each piece as 1/8 of a whole pie. How many pieces of pie did I freeze?

Final answer:

To determine the number of pieces of pie you froze, multiply the number of whole pies by the number of pieces in each whole pie and add the number of pieces in the leftover fraction of a pie.

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the number of pieces of pie you froze, you need to determine how many pieces make up 7 1/4 pies. Each pie is cut into 8 equal pieces, so to find the number of pieces in 7 1/4 pies, you need to multiply 7 by 8 and add the number of pieces in the 1/4 pie. 7 multiplied by 8 equals 56, and to find the number of pieces in 1/4 pie, you multiply 1 by 8 and divide by 4, which equals 2. So, in total, you froze 56 + 2 = 58 pieces of pie.

Answer:

58

Step-by-step explanation:

You would have to turn 7 1/4 into a whole fraction.

Do,

7 * 4 = 28

28 + 1 = 29

Your new fraction would be,

29/4

Now you have to make them equal denominators as 1/8.

Lets see,

Now multiply 4 * 2 is 8.

So multiply 29 times 2.

Which is 58.

Your new fraction is,

58/8

So therefore you would have 58 pieces.
