If each shirt cost 17.99 both shirts would be 35.98 subtract that from the total 45.97 and you get 9.99 and if you dived that by 3 you get 3.33

Each shirt costs 17.99
He buys 2 shirts so in sum they cost 35.98

To work out the price of 3 socks we do
45.97 - 35.98 = 9.99
This gives us price of three socks
So now we divide by 3
9.99/3 = 3.33
Answer : 3.33
