-a/6 + 7 = -14

and I guess, you need to find the value of a to make this equation true. right ?

you know that you can do additional operations on the equation ?

the rule is, whatever you change on one side of the equation you have to change also on the other side (otherwise we would destroy the original equation, where the left side must be equal to the right side).

so, a good idea to start is to try and separate the terms with the variable and the constants.

so, let's subtract 7 from both sides :

-a/6 = -14 - 7 = -21

next, the fraction is disturbing. let's dissolve it by multiplying both sides by 6 :

-a = -21×6 = -126

both sides are negative expressions. that is not nice either. let's multiply both sides by -1

a = 126

and we have our result ! bingo !
