On a winter day, the low temperature in Anchorage was 23 degrees below zero, (in Celsius) and the low temperature in Minneapolis was 14 degrees below zero (in Celsius). Sophia wrote, Minneapolis was colder because: -14 < -23

Is Sophia correct? Explain your answer.

It is 37 because u do 23-23 which gives you 0, then you take away 0 and go down until -14, 23+14=37 so it is 37 Degrees Difference.

Answer:

Sophia is incorrect

Explanation:

This is because if you looked a number line, -14 is closer to 0 than -23. So.. -14>-23
