The atrioventricular (AV) valves consists of the tricuspid valve and the bicuspid/mitral valve- When the AV valves open they are responsible for the “lub sound”

The semilunar (SL) valves consist of the aortic valve and the pulmonic valve- When the SL valves close they cause the “dup” sound.
