In Stave 5, Dickens reveals the transformation of Scrooge, from being an avaricious, greedy old miser, to a compassionate, friendly character towards the end. He is relieved to not only be alive, but also to have another chance at life. The theme of redemption is present here, and we learn as readers about how Scrooge tries to change his morals to be a better person. The Ghosts within the novella are turning points for Scrooge as each have a significant influence by representing the error of his ways and he is eventually redeemed by his own willingness to change.
