A bus travels a route through a neighborhood. The coordinate grid shows each stop along the route the bus travels. Each unit represents one block.

The block where Tanya lives is located one block south of the fourth stop. Her friend lives two blocks north of the seventh stop. Write an expression, using absolute value, that can be used to find the distance between Tanya's block and her friend's block.

Answer:

5 block away.

Explanation:

First, we need to find the cordinates of both points. First, we find Tanya. Tanya is 1 blocks south (Down) of the 4th station. That would be the point (-2,-2). Her friend lives north (up) of the 7th stop by 2 blocks. We then need to get the distance formula (I can't put it on here, search it up) So, we would add 3+2 to get 5. -2 plus 2 is 0, so there is nothing. 5 squared is 25.

The square root of 25 is 5. They are 5 blocks away.
