k - 3(k + 5) - 0.5 = 3(0.25k + 4) ← distribute parenthesis on both sides

k - 3k - 15 - 0.5 = 0.75k + 12

- 2k - 15.5 = 0.75k + 12 ( subtract 0.75k from both sides )

- 2.75k - 15.5 = 12 ( add 15.5 to both sides )

- 2.75k = 27.5 ( divide both sides by - 2.75 )

k = - 10
