Anita is helping to make gift boxes for a community center. She has a total of 34 toys. She places 3 toys in each box. How many boxes will she need?

Answer:

1.) 4 Carriers

2.) 12 boxes

3.) 2 r1 or 2.5

Explanation:

1.) 8X = 30

We get the equation 8X = 30 from the fact that there are 8 calculators in each carrier and there are X to hold the 30 calculators.

X = 30/8 = 3.75 = 4 carriers because we can't have portions of carriers

2.) 3X = 34

We get the equation 3X = 34 from the fact that there are 3 toys in each box and there are a total of X boxes to hold the 34 toys.

X = 34/3 = 11.3333 = 12 boxes because we can't have a third of a box

3.) Two friends can evenly share four cookies with one cookie leftover. two ways of dealing with this remainder are leaving it and neither for and gets any of the cookies or each friend gets half of the cookie.
