It was a catclyst for the start of the American revolution. Americans didn’t want to pay taxes for the tea being imported by the UK and the UK needed the taxes on the tea to pay off their war debts. So when the ship full of tea was brought to harbor and people being forced to pay taxes for something like that, they revolted and they dressed as native Americans and proccedly dump all the tea into the ocean. This angered the British which then lead tot he American revolution.
