My calculator solves these kinds of questions. The answer is

x1 = 5 Which we should be able to get without a special calculator

x2=-2+4i

x3 = - 2 - 4i

I doubt you need anything more than 5. If she is thinking of the complex numbers, she should be in a special class for people who think about such things
