We first have to find the LCM(Least Common Multiple) of the unlike denominators 4 and 2 which is 4

So we multiply the numerator and denominator
(1)/(2) by 2 so we can add with the same denominator
(1*2)/(2*2)=(2)/(4)


(1)/(4) +(2)/(4)=(3)/(4)
