The coordinates of the three vertices of a triangle are

(-2,5), (4,0), and (-2, 0). What is the area of the triangle?

15 unit^2.

Explanation:

The line between the points (4,0) an (-2, 0) is horizontal ( as the y coordinates are the same) and is of length

4- (-2) = 6 units.

The line between (-2,5) and (-2,0) is vertical and of length 5 - 0 = 5 units.

So it is a right triangle and the area is 1/2 * 5 * 6

= 15 unit^2.
