Explanation:

Let me start off by saying that 1 unit side is absolutely useless.

You can translate the 6 unit side downwards, so now we have a right isosceles triangle of 2 equal sides which are 6

The hypotenuse is given here by x.

Applying the Pythagorean theorem i can then say;


x {}^(2) = 6 {}^(2) + 6 {}^(2)


x {}^(2) = 36 + 36


x {}^(2) = 72


x = √(72) = 6 √(2) = 8.485

x=8.5

rounded to the nearest 10 :)
