multiply 0.5x with 0.5x which is 0.25x^2. then multiply 0.5x with 3 which is 1.5x. then multiply -3 with 0.5x which is -1.5x. then multiply -3 with 3 which is 9. so you will have 0.25x^2+1.5x-1.5x-9.

1.5x and -1.5x is 0. so you are left with 0.25x^2-9
