Carson drew a triangle with side lengths of 9 in., 11 in., and 7 in. Is Carson's triangle a right triangle? Explain or show work to support your answer.

No. The square of the longest side must be equal to the sum of the squares of the smaller sides. But we have

9² + 7² = 81 + 49 = 140 ≠ 121 = 11²
