and apply angle sum property of triangle here

2x + 72° = 180

2x = 180 - 72

2x = 108

x = 108/2 = 54

therefore,

angle 2 = 54°

now,

54° = -9 + 7x

or

-9 + 7x = 54°

7x = 54 + 9 = 63°

x = 63/7 = 9

x = 9
