Explanation:

the currency does not matter (only if we get into any fractions of the main unit and have to name the fractions properly). % is usually about the number itself.

so,

5480 = 100%

1% = 100%/100 = 5480/100 = 54.8

10% = 1% × 10 = 54.8×10 = 548

and so,

£5480 - 10% = 5480 - 548 = £4932

if course, because of the special number 10% we could have gotten the answer faster, but I wanted to show you the full line of thinking when dealing with %. and needed when the number is not so nice.
