Given,

sec θ + tan3θ cosec θ

= sec θ + (sin3θ/cos3θ) (1/sin θ)

= sec θ + tan2θ sec θ

= sec θ(1 + tan2θ)

= √(1 + tan2θ) (1 + tan2θ)

= (1 + tan2θ)3/2

= (1 + 1 – e2)3/2

= (2 – e2)3/2
