B. 2 1/5
Divide the 11 cakes by the 5 people.
11/5 =2.2
To convert 2.2 to a fraction:
Put 2.2 over one:
2.2/1
Then multiply both the numerator and denominator by the number of places after the decimal. Since we move by one place, we multiply both by 10.
2.2*10/1*10 = 22/10
Reduce the fraction.
22/10=11/5
Now divide the 11 by the five. 5 can fit into 11 two times, with 1/5 left over.
