Sarah is making scarves. She has 10 1/2 yards of fabric to make the scarves. If each scarf requires 4 yards of fabric, how many scarves can Sarah make? PLEASE HELP ​

We know 10 1/2 is basically 10.5 or 21/2

To find the max amount of scarves she can make, simply divide the number of yards she has by 4. This will get you the number of scarves she can create.


(21/2)/(4) = (21)/(2) * (1)/(4) = 21/8 = 2.625

Well.. we don't want to make .625 of a scarf since that would be ridiculous, so we will round it down to 2 since we can't make 3 either.

The max amount of scarves she can make is 2.
