Answer:

2 liters of 70%

4 liters of 40%

Explanation:

Let

x = liters of 70%

Then the remaining amount is

6 - x = liters of 40%

---------------------------------

Mixing

(70% of x) + (40% of 6 -x) (to get) 50% of 6)

70(x) + 40(6-x) = 50(6)

Simplify

70x + (240 - 40x) = 300

Combine like terms

30x = 60

Divde both sides by 30

x = 2 liters of 70%

6 - x = 4 liters of 40%
