well, to get the mathematical average of a set of numbers, we simply add all of them up and divide them by the amount of items in the set. So in this case we have only two in the set, so we'll add them both and divide by 2 :).

\cfrac{2}{3}+\cfrac{5}{6}\implies \stackrel{using \stackrel{LCD}{6}}{\cfrac{(2\cdot 2)+(1\cdot 5)}{6}}\implies \cfrac{4+5}{6}\implies \cfrac{9}{6}\implies \cfrac{3}{2}\\\\[-0.35em]~\dotfill\\\\\stackrel{\textit{now we divide that sum by 2}}{\cfrac{3}{2}/ 2}\implies \cfrac{3}{2}/ \cfrac{2}{1}\implies \cfrac{3}{2}\cdot \cfrac{1}{2}\implies \boxed{\cfrac{3}{4}}

Answer:

3/4

Explanation:

First is to add 2/3 and 5/6 which is 3/2

then divide the product by 2 since we have 2 fractions (2/3 and 5/6)

the quotient is 3/4 and that's the average
