PLOT ORDER
The following events from the novel are in the incorrect order.
Place them in the right order by putting the correct number next to
each plot point
Holmes explains that he must stay in London. On the way to Baskerville Hall,
Watson and Sir Henry discover that a dangerous murderer, Seldon, has escaped
from prison.
Sir Henry walks home alone across the moors after dinner at the Stapletons. The
dog attacks him but Holmes and Watson shoot it. They discover Miss Stapleton
tied up
Watson learns of a meeting between Sir Charles and a local woman named Laura
Lyons.
Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson try to discover the identity of the visitor
who has left a walking stick behind.
Holmes and Watson visit Laura Lyons who explains that Stapleton had offered to
marry her. He also made her write the letter to Sir Charles and stopped her
turning up or speaking about it.
Stapleton is presumed dead on the moor. Holmes explains that Stapleton wanted
the money from the Baskerville estate. He used the legend to kill Sir Charles, Miss
Stapleton wrote the warning letter to Sir Henry at the start.
Doctor Mortimer arrives and tells Holmes and Watson about the death of Sir
Charles and the legend of the hound of the Baskervilles.
Holmes and Watson hear a scream. The hound has killed Seldon, who was
wearing Sir Henry's clothes. They immediately return to Baskerville Hall.
It is discovered that Seldon is Mrs Barrymore's brother and that they are
arranging for him to escape from the country.
Sir Henry arrives in London and is followed by a mysterious stranger. He receives
a letter warning him not to go to the moor.
Watson discovers that the spy on the moors is indeed Holmes himself. Holmes
reveals that the Stapleton's are husband and wife and that Mr Stapleton is really
a Baskerville
Watson notices strange things: a dog howling, the Barrymore's behaving
strangely, Miss Stapleton's warning, and there is a man spying on him from the
moors.
