Using any two points to find the slope. I will using (3, 1) and (7, 5)

Slope = (change in the y values)/(change in the x values)

Slope = (5 - 1)/(7 - 3) = 4/4 = 1

Next find the y -intercept "b", using the table to find the value of y when x is zero. That point is (0, -2) . So the y-intercept ("b") is -2

or use one of the point (7, 5) and substitute into the slope- intercept formula and solve for "b'

y = mx + b

5 = 1(7) + b

5 = 7 + b

-2 = b

Write the equation in the slope-intercept form y = x - 2
